Admiral on the deck! Let the fun begin again. (7/04/07) NEW
Returning from a long hiatus (in Data-ish, that will be 1 year, 5 months and 25 days...) with no Armada activity or news of any kind (consider it a creativity refresh) in the site; here I'm once again, trying to offer new and original maps for those Armada fans out there. Yeah, my apologies for taking so long, but I just needed a rest in order to make best story plotlines and of course some challenging adventures. By the way, if you look closely there's an arc in the maps' storylines, which are going to be used in an upcoming free Star Trek e-book that I'm making (just for fun and because I like to write! As simple as that). TOP SECRET: More details coming soon. Anyway, that book is just another one in a series of books that I'm trying to make (some free, others don't). Apart of that, I have been thinking to remake the site --a face over-- but that will require more time, more resources, money, programs, etc... And frankly I don't have that luxuries. So, I will stay with the current look but be aware STARBASE A-1 is SIX YEARS OLD---  HAPPY  *late*  BIRTHDAY! (12/20/06)
Now for the maps... Expect some interesting concepts coming soon, and some news... And believe me, if there're things to say... Star Trek XI??? Oh, I just need to say, "What are they thinking?" And surely a lot of more things, from technology and other trek-related news. Again, if you have some news, maps or other trek stuff that you want to share then send it to Starbase A-1...

     PLUS: BEWARE THE DOOMSDAY MACHINES!!!

Happy 5th Birthday Starbase A-1! (12/20/05) And many new hopes for another year. (1/09/06)
Better late than never. But for those that believed that Trek's present bad luck made Starbase A-1 R.I.P. let me just say that the site is quite alive. Of course, not as active as I want or as in the past, yet still making some great maps for A1 and A2 (plus to a few mods out there). To be honest, these has been one difficult year, from hurricanes, earthquakes, deaths and sad news for the Star Trek franchise to even my personal ups and down in my literary quest. Obviously I'm not a perfect writer, but opportunities are small for those living outside USA...even more if you wish to be a Trek writer. And by the way, finding agents is also a tricky business. So after a few considerations I am back to first base. Anyway, on this time I have polished my works, making them more viable to market --that means no Trek in it-- but this is only a temporary setback. I have plenty ideas left and new ones popping on the minute.
For the upcoming years I plan to launch free Trek ebooks or fan fictions, so consider them a practice to the big novels, since I can't participate on the Strange New Worlds Contest. Hopefully these works will be done with great results. On the other hand, still working on my other novels... Worst thing in this business: Changing to the SMF (Standard Manuscript Format). And if that was not enough I soon began another semester on university. So that means more extra work. Then there's Starbase A-1 and a game that I have tried to help for 5 years. What to do then?
I would be lying if I say I haven't thought about shutting down the site; me been the only one working on it. Creating maps, testing and uploading them; plus the web site maintenance and all that stuff (including the HOSTILE FRONTIER mod). Is not an easy job. The worst part is that much of the free time that I have is used to advance my manuscripts so I can submit them to new agents. (Without saying that I need to update my writer's web page). Is not money but rather a personal aid what motivates me to keep writing; something that I love to do. At first I choose Star Trek because I'm a trekkie and I like it a lot; but then there are so many problems. So many issues, the guidelines by Pocket Books for example. When I did my first manuscript they were different, and such rules are constantly changing. That's why I decided to go forward, to be more original and creative. Therefore all my attention is now on such creations.
By no means I am saying I will close the site. As far I know, Starbase A-1 will be alive as far our friends in A2 Upgrades still on the air. But there will be a lack in updates, perhaps shorter or longer than last time. Is my hope to make big updates in longer times (just like this one) to keep the site alive and interest until I could finally reach a balance between my projects. For the moment, I can only say I will try to make more mission maps for the other races, and increase the quantity in the other map categories and map packs. Of course, these are tentative plans. About Hostile Frontiers, the mod is on hiatus until I could find more models based on the working time period. As for now, enjoy a few updates in A1 and A2 as well a new way to tell the stories you will play. I hope you like them. Comments and suggestions are welcome. Enjoy the Trek!

RED ALERT: Doomsday Machines Sights on Several Systems (1/09/06)
INN (Intergalactic News Network) and FNS.  The Doomsday Machine once threatened the peaceful life of many populated star systems. Now, decades later several sightings have been reported by observatory arrays, starships, stations and colonies. From deep inside Klingon space to even the borders with the Delta Quadrant and the Gamma Quadrant, these destructive mechanical creatures seems to be grouping in vast numbers. Their fast growing and their origins still completely unknown. Still, there are no news about any planetary annihilation caused by the also known Planet Killers; but Starfleet Command is deploying large fleets to ensure the end of the treat. Visit the A2 Standard Maps Section for more. (Planet Killers)

Strange Visitors from Another Dimension? (1/09/06)
USS Aegian, Various Sources. Kioceps IV is the last place in where strange triangular vessels have appeared without any warning. According to survivors from the USS Aegian and other places, the unknown starcrafts are identical in shapes and weaponry. The mysterious apparitions are filled with strange energy signatures in rich areas of blackhole activity. To worst fears, many sources believe that such vessels are without any doubt proof of life beyond the final frontier. To learn more visit the Federation A2 Mission Maps. (On the Shadow's Corner)

Romulans' Checkmate on Dralamar X (1/09/06)
Dralamar X, FNS. A surprising move made by Romulan forces on the Dralamar X Nebula Cluster uncovered a Federation-Klingon plot whose primary mission was to capture secret facilities in the area. This act, noted by the new elected Praetor as "a dying disgrace by those who claim peace," adds more problems to the well-known hostilities between the Federation and the Star Empire. More critical, the failed campaign let by Admiral Letbegn, creates a debate in the recent negotiations hold on Romulus and on the Federation Council. Federation Civilian Cruiser lost in Cardassian Space. (1/09/06)
Cardassian Border, FNS. In what appears to be another victim of mercenaries near the Federation-Cardassian border, Starfleet Command reports that a distress signal coming from one cruiser has been detected on the Garaarvi Sector. The now appointed Gul Nekar expressed his concerns in a recent conference hold in Cardassia Prime. Stating that "the wealth of the Alpha Quadrant lies on the hands of those who learn of their mistakes," he personally granted a rescue operation at once and allowed the USS Horizon to participate in such procedures. Rumors say that the Horizon's main mission is not to rescue but to inoculate a dangerous virus detected on the Civilian Cruiser. However to have complete access to this report, please visit the Cardassian A2 Mission Maps. (A Blink in the Light)
